How it all Began.

A woman with short hair leaning against a brick wall outdoors, wearing a light pink jacket, smiling softly, with greenery and blurred trees in the background.

I create whimsical watercolor art that celebrates imagination, nostalgia, friendship, animals, gardens and the simple joys of childhood.

This is the guy who started it all.

A watercolor illustration of a brown bear resting on a stone wall, sniffing a white and yellow daisy with a smiley face. The scene is outdoors with green grass at the base of the wall. The bear is happy.

I always wanted to be an artist. As a kid, I would see a cute illustration in a book and think, “Oh, if only I could do that!” Years later, I decided to stop wishing and start learning.

For eight years, I sat in my car each morning before work balancing my sketchbook between my lap and the steering wheel - learning. Eventually my sketches blossomed into watercolor illustrations. This time in a real art studio, not in my car.

Today, I create whimsical watercolor artwork inspired by the wonder, innocence, and imagination of childhood. My illustrations are filled with warm-hearted characters, playful details and some gentle storytelling that speaks to both children and adults. Whether it’s a cheerful snowman, a hopeful little duck, or a silly Halloween scene, each piece is created to brighten a day, bring a smile to a face and tug gently to the heart.

Thank you for visiting Art of Being a Kid. I invite you to stay awhile and explore and reconnect with the simple wonder that lives within each of us.

After all, growing older is inevitable - but keeping a little spark of childhood wonder is still possible.

Come share this journey with me. It might be fun!
